Favorite Disney World, Epcot, Animal Kingdom restaurants

I'm tagging along on a trip soon. I've been to the parks several times through the years. I've never really focused on the restaurants. The others I'm traveling with don't really care about the parks, but love to go for getaways - on the concierge floor. It's going to be a very different kind of trip.

A couple of us ARE going to go to one or two of the parks - Epcot and maybe another. Looking for good restaurant suggestions for the trip. Thanks in advance.

Restaurant Marrakesh in Epcot is one of my favorites. In spite of the characters, I also like the buffet breakfast at 1900 Park Faire in the Grand Floridian. I leave the car there and ride the monorail to the Magic Kingdom or Epcot. I haven't been for a while, but the Yak & Yeti in Animal Kingdom was good 5 years ago. At the time, it was not run by Disney.

I love the counter service restaurant at Morocco. Yummy. Also the Canadian restaurant (Le Cellier ???) is great but you need reservations.

I also love the restaurants in Morocco! And the restaurant in the Sea pavilion is also really neat.

Hollywood Studios has some unique dining options. There's the Sci Fi Drive In, and the 1950s Diner that have nothing even similar! Both are fun and unique!

I second Morocco. We ate at the French restaurant in EPCOT once because it was the only one available and were very pleasantly surprised. Germany is fun with the band and entertainment, but the food is not great. My favorite counter service restaurant in Magic Kingdom was the noodle place at the entrance to Tomorrowland, but it disappeared a few years ago. I assume it is not back.

Not sure what your timing is, but any sitdown restaurant you will probably need reservations. And they sell out FAST! You can do it online - I recommend now, even for lunch.

We actually had a really good dinner at The Wave at the Contemporary. We also enjoyed our meal at Raglan Road at Downtown Disney.

I've heard great things about Flying Fish at the Boardwalk.

And of course there is Victoria and Alberts if you can get a reservation.

Oh, don't waste your time at Be Our Guest...not good, not good at all. Magic Kingdom is the worst of the parks for food IMO.

I agree that Be Our Guest is a disappointment.
Some of Disney's best restaurants are at their hotels.
Animal Kingdom Lodge Jiko is a very good restaurant with excellent quality African selections and fine service.
California Grill at the Contemporary is often mentioned as best on the property.
Artist's Point at Wilderness Lodge is one of my favorites.
Portofino at Downtown Disney is a good choice. If weather is fair, the waterside patio is pleasant.

France and Canada, we always got pastry in France first thing after getting there. We sort of drink around the world and get something at each country to nibble on. Japan was good and great view for the fireworks. Raglan Road at downtown Disney is our eating place for concerts at House of Blues. Make sure you share the bread and butter pudding.

I love the San Angel Inn in Mexico at Epcot. So cool and dark after a day in the sun. I had a really great pork and pumpkin dish there a few months ago. If you go, make reservations. It's pretty popular.

Thanks for the great suggestions. The folks I'm traveling with have been going for years but it will be great to be able to suggest some additions to their list. Many thanks!

BOMA is a buffet in Animal Kingdom and we eat there everytime we are in Orlando. JIKA is just next door, table service and very nice food and atmosphere, but a bit pricy.

For a bit of a rest in Epcot, the English pub has a beer flight (is that what it's called, like a sampler) and pleasant atmosphere.

Some of our favorites . . the Californian Grill at the top of the Contemporary hotel, but it's hard to get into. The Rose and Crown in Epcot for fish & chips and view of the illuminations ( and pretty good ale ) . . The Flying Fish at the Boardwalk. . Victoria & Albert’s at the Grand Floridian

Meant to say Boma and Jika are in the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Which, by the way, if you get a Savannah view room, is fabulous. Agree with California Grill. Great view of the fireworks at night.

Now that you have some good suggestions, check out some sample menus at those places. http://allears.net/dining/

I'll 3rd or 4th the restaurants/counter service in Morocco at Epcot as well as both Boma and Jiko at Animal Kingdom Lodge. California Grill is very good indeed. And I never miss the patisserie at the french pavilion at Epcot - I tell myself I'm walking off the calories!

Thanks, everyone! I loved your ideas and we incorporated several of them.

We were lucky enough to stay on the concierge floor of the Animal Kingdom Lodge and that was a real treat. They had food and drinks available from 7 till 10 so that cut down on the number of meals we ate in the park. The first day we were just visiting with family in the hotel so we enjoyed snacking from the buffet and then two of the group went down to Mara and brought back DELICIOUS food for us to share at the table in the room. Their stew was fabulous as were the flatbreads and falafel. We enjoyed their wine and bought more too.

Thanks to your suggestions, I strongly suggested the Rose and Crown for lunch. Our friends were a bit hesitant, but once we were seated were so very glad to be there. The food was delicious and the beer flight was fun. I shared a couple of my glasses with others at the table (after tasting). My partner loved the scotch flight and we shared sips. Of course, the only one I liked was the oldest. The cheese trio appetizer was fabulous! We sat waterfront and it would be a great place to enjoy dinner and fireworks.

We ate at Morocco for dinner and it was wonderful. It was already a favorite of the others and I'm glad I got the chance to enjoy it as well. Coming out of the restaurant on a beautiful night made one almost feel they were in Morocco.

We stopped for afternoon drinks in Mexico and really enjoyed the margaritas. The blood orange margarita was the best at the table. We also ordered their chips/salsa/cheese dip/ guacamole combo. Tasty.

We really enjoyed the food at Epcot. Thanks for your help!
