Hmmm. And now that I've thought about it overnight, I'd say the best plan is make the teens pick the show they want to see after handing them a list of descriptions. The good part of that is, as we all know, no teen will admit to making a mistake, so they'll pretend to love it even if they didn't. If you pick it, probably not.

Totally agree with Wicked - if you can get tickets. Also Hairspray. And I think Lion King is awesome - for any age. Look past the "childrens'story" aspect and see the amazing costumes and dance movement. There is a reason this show won every Tony Award.

IMHO: skip Rent. The adults will hate it - LOUD ....very LOUD.

I actually liked Rent, I have the CD and saw it twice, once with my husband and once with my kids. I also like Lion King, Phantom and Hairspray. I am seeing WIcked in June with my family, but have the CD and enjoy the music. I saw CHicago with a lousy cast years ago and was underwhelmed.

It is difficult to get WIcked tickets. I have tickets for a friday night in mid-june that I purchased about 2 months ago, and the best seats available at that time were just ok. I think most of the other shows (the Lion King I think is still a tough ticket though) are more available and frequently discounted.

OK! I like the idea of giving the kids a choice. I can't get tickets for "Wicked" right now, but I will keep checking. My second pick is Hairspray, then Chicago, then Lion King. Thank you all for your opinions! Any off Broadway shows you can recommend? We have four nights to fill up!

Another show you all might enjoy is All Shook Up. It's based on Elvis songs so the adults will like it but the whole show is very upbeat and fun. The script is a little corny but the way it's done, the actors aren't trying to take it seriously-just have fun. Lots of upbeat numbers and great singing. I saw it with my friends and their sons, 10 and 14 who liked it alot.

If you want more info on All Shook Up, just type that in the search box. A few other people on this forum have seen it and liked it as much as Mama Mia.

If "Momma Mia" still on Broadway I would recommend that for teens and adults. It's a great show! And it definitely appeals to teens as well as adults - I will see it again!
