Favorite Big Island Restaurants
 

Would love to try the Big Island's good restaurants. Any suggestions? We love watching the sunset while dining, so ocean view is a big plus. Thanks.

These do not have ocean views but they are drop-dead wonderful places to eat: Roy's at Waikoloa Village on Kohala Coast; Kilauea Lodge Restaurant in Volcano; and Merriman's, Waimea..... you can't go wrong at any of them!

My recommendations for sunset dining:

Brown's Beach House (at the Orchid)
Pahu I'a (at the Four Seasons)
Coast Grille (at the Hapuna Beach Prince)
Kona Inn and Huggo's (both in Kona)

But Bonnie is right, the best food is served at places with no sunset views.. Roy's, Merriman's, Koa House etc.

We love Roys. Great food. Wonderful selection. Great service. Great restaurant. You look over a large lake, I think.

Merrimans in Waimea and Kilauea Lodge in Volcano are two of the best. Costal Grille was a disappointment and had truly awful service...would never go back. Do a search for "Big Island restaurants" here and you should find a wealth of info.

A few years back there was a place called Edelweiss up near the Parker Ranch that was really great. Again, no ocean view but excellent food.
