Fastest way to JFK from LaGuardia

Fastest way to JFK from LaGuardia

Hi. What would be the fastest way to to go from LaGuardia to JFK? It'll be the afternoon rush hour on a Thursday. I was thinking of getting a taxi but wondered if a shuttle might be quicker. Thanks for your help!

Cab, far and away. Even though they are relatively close any mode of transportation must negotiate the Van Wyck Expressway which is always tied up. A shuttle will make a number of stops.

Oh, definitely UBER: they actually leap tall semi's in a single bound.

Unless there are unusual circumstances, each terminal at LGA has a long line of yellow cabs waiting. There is no need to rely on the vagaries of UBER pricing or figure out where you will meet them.

It's rough now at LGA and there are sometimes long taxi lines at the main terminal B because one of the taxi lines is closed. To be honest a car service might not be a bad idea during rush hour, when this 10-minute trip can easily take 30 minutes or more. Maybe not Uber but a regular car service. Thursdays are not as bad as Fridays for traffic, but any rush hour is bad. Allow a full hour for the trip, though it is unlikely to take that long.

I used LGA twice in March and found no problems, although I was prepared for the worst. I guess I was just fortunate.

Just to give you an idea of how bad the trip can back up between LGA and JFK today the travel time was almost an hour. It's normally 25 or 20 minutes. But it's so hard to predict.

Thanks, all. I will be arriving at 5:30 and trying to catch a 9:05 flight from JFK to Madrid. (Originally, I had another hour, but the airline changed the time.) I'm thinking a cab will be the best bet. Fingers crossed!

With 3 hours you have to take a taxi, no question, unless you reserve a car service. If at all possible, carry your bags onto your domestic flight. LGA is horrendous about bringing out baggage.

FYI: If you are checking bags, you absolutely have to finish your bag check 60 minutes before your departure at JFK on most airlines. So you will have absolutely no time to waste.
