Thanks NYgirl, I knew I could count on you, you always have the best fashion advice. I just combed my closet and (horrors), there wasn't a stylish shoe to be found. You know what that means, it's time to go shopping.
Oh and Rudy'o, thanks for the vote of confidence - if you only knew!

Suburban Mom -- It's just at the tail end of sandal season since the high temps have been in the low 70's. However, closed toe slingbacks and mules are still perfectly acceptable. Given that the forecast is rain, you might want something closed like a loafer. I haven't seen anyone in boots yet.
Have a great trip!

OK, looking out my window (live near a college campus) and here's what I see:
Lots of jeans, cords with tight sweaters. Dark pants (not necessarily black) light or striped sweaters. Occasional hooded jacket . Flat shoes, sneakers, some platform sandals.
Knee length skirts with short jackets. Pointy toed pumps , bare legged.
A couple of men in dark conservative suits, umbrellas overhead.
This morning on the train, when it wasn't as wet and dreary outside as it is now, saw more sandals and people without jackets or umbrellas.
Haven't seen anyone in boots yet. It might be wet outside, but it's still too hot for boots.

Suburban Mom - I won't be here to hear how you fared but imagine you were terrific! An idea however - I simply don't accept that you needed all that help. I read all of it, and maybe you gleaned more than I. I do agree with the poster on the mary janes - I think my GF's are awfully nifty. But then, she's pretty with or without. Wa la!

I was kidding about the mary janes - i usually just smoke 'em. now lets not take ourselves too seriously, nest pah. there really are more interesting things than open versus closed toe! just my take from the midwest heartland.

NYGirl,
Coco honey, what a perfect analogy! Mom from Six Feet Under! LOL> It would take some sexy lady to overcome that foot!
I like the new rounded toe slightly high heels that I have been seeing. There is a pair that I think another Coco may have worn something similar to-black suede, high heel with small laces at the front, just a hint of "tie me up"
But for casual rainy days, leather loafer types, and even a pair of cool athletic shoes would be fine with a pair of straight leg, pants and a little rain jacket or trench.
Coco, will you be wearing fur this winter? I am taking a trip where the price of furs is not so bad, was wondering if I wanted a little fur around my neck this winter
