Famous Cupcakes in NYC
 

We are going to be going to NYC this week. Someone mentioned there is a place you have to go (she thought it was Soho or Little Italy) that are famous for "cupcakes". People wait in LONG lines. Can someone please tell me what the name of the place is and where it is located?

You are thinking of Magnolia on Bleecker which are way over rated. For no lines and better cupcakes try:

They are also ornately decorated.

And then there is Babycakes on Broome Street.

Save a lot of time and go to the other places.

No, I have not been To Sugar Sunshine.

If you are near there are many other places to go.

Donut Plant which makes unbeilvanle donuts and churros.

Falai whose signature pastry is Bumbalini which is a cream filled cream puff.

Clinton Street Bakery which makes the best biscuit yet.

Economy Candy which is has a very large selection at the cheapest prices.

We often order birthday cakes from the Cupcake Cafe. Their designs are really good. The icing isn't too sweet and the cake is usually a rich chocolate.

I think if I was going out of my way for dessert in NYC, I'd go to Payard Patisserie on Lexington Avenue and 73rd. Francois Payard is a brilliant pastry chef. You can have lunch or just something in the front area which has relatively few seats but lots of goodies. He can be a bit prickly though.
