Family vacation in Kauai
 

We booked a one week vacation to Kauai and we're staying at Cliff's Club Resort in Princeville area for one week. It will be our first time in Hawaii. We are arriving on a Saturday night and our vacation property doesn't start until the next day, Sunday. Any suggestions on a moderate priced hotel around the airport to basically stay for one night. Also, any suggestions for family outings? Thanks (:

Gosh, you may wish to try the Marriott. It is quite a deluxe property but may have the Entertainment rate which means you may get a 50 percent discount. Good luck! Be sure to phone direct to ask for this.

Family outings -- suggest a drive to the Na Pali cliffs, northenmost on the island for a breathtaking view (they also offer zodiac boat rides along the coast and helo rides). There is a nice, short hike to the waterfall found in the original "Fantasy Island" -- forgot the name, but the locals will know where it is. Snorkling is tremendous -- but best if you can find a coral reef. Believe snorkling excursion is included in zodiac boat tour to the Na Pali coast. We were there, 15 years, ago and loved it.

Cristina: <BR> <BR>While I haven't stayed here, I have heard good things about the Garden Island Inn. It is located just outside the airport, across from the Marriott Hotel. When I went by it looked cute and, I believe, rooms are less than $100 per night. <BR> <BR>KT

We have stayed at GardenIsland Inn. It is very adequate and very clean.
