Family Trip advice please?!
Hello, I'm just hoping for some advice and pointers regarding our upcoming family trip to New York.
We are visiting for 9 days mid July, it's our first visit to the US. We have two sons aged 13 and 16 and are looking for some ideas to keep them happy and entertained. I would like to get a rough itinerary pulled together before we go so that we are not scratching our heads when we arrive on what to do!! If anyone could give some suggestions it would be much appreciated Also some tips on where to eat affordably for a family of four would be welcome :) Thanks in advance |
Do you mean New York City or are you planning on some other part of the state of New York?

Hi
I mean New York city, we are staying in Brooklyn and are happy to travel around a bit on the buses, train etc. Just wondering if anyone could suggest a couple of sporting events which might be affordable and on during our stay (13-23 July)? Any replies gratefully received! Many thanks |
July is baseball season; the NYC teams are the Yankees and the Mets.
Read a guidebook to figure out what most appeals to you. Plot those places on a map to organize your days in a geographically logical way. The subway is the cheapest and most efficient way to get around. For $32 per person, you can each get a 7 day unlimited ride metro card. If you put the address of you hotel into Google maps, the little Ms you see are su way stations. |
If you're interested in baseball, here are links to schedules for the Yankees and the Mets.

another place to look for tickets is stubhub.com. They are a legitimate reseller and sometimes you can score a bargain.
You might also look for local little league, babe ruth, AAA, etc. teams. Not the pros but lots of fun. |
