Family Travel Idea Needed
We are two families, one from CA and the other from DC, wanting to meet somewhere in-between in the US for the end of March Spring Break. Original idea was Grand Canyon/Zion/Bryce or Yellowstone, but the weather is not very good and we are not super adventurous, like don't want to do intensive hikes or hikes in the snow. All kids are over 12 years. Florida is out; we've done that. Any suggestions?
Thanks. |
Padre Island TX, New Orleans

I'd add San Antonio to Padre Island -- Texas weather should be good, and the area has a variety of entertainments that could be enjoyed by families.
Note that the Gulf Coast during spring break may not be where you'd want to be with your children -- or even without them. "Spring break" for college kids means "non-stop drunken bacchanalia at the beach." |
What about New Orleans? March is a pretty good time to be there...not nearly as hot and sticky as much of the year.

Sedona or Sante Fe.

San Diego. Yes it's farther for the D.C. family, but I'll bet air is about the same there as it is to anywhere else.
Sea World, Lego Land, Zoo, Safari Park, Coronado, Bike Riding, Old Town, weather will be mild. |
While the southwest is a great choice for most of the year, end of March can be down right awful weather wise - snowy, windy. I'd save that for another time.
San Diego is really nice, lots to see and do, even at that time of year. http://www.localwally.com/ |
I do like San Diego a lot, but maybe being from California, you know it all too well and want to go somewhere farther away.
You'll probably think this is crazy...what about an urban vacation in Chicago? A great city to take kids that age. |
