Family Reunion June, 2008

Any suggestions for a location for a family reunion in June of 2008 for a large extended family that is spread out on both coasts? We are looking for a reasonably priced location with lots of fun stuff to do for all ages.

I'll put in my two-cents for Missouri. St.Louis and Kansas City are both options. STL has lots of free attractions like the Zoo, the Science Center, Busch Brewery, and Grant's Farm. The others, like the Botanical Garden, are very low cost. Younger kids might want to spend a day at 6-Flags (they might even offer reunion packages with meals) or try the City Museum for omething "funky". Of course, you can't miss taking in a baseball game.

I have visited KC, MO many times. They also have a fun Science Center and KC Royals baseball. There's great BBQ places and also the Negro Leagues museum for sports history buffs. I haven't done the tour of Hallmark cards, but that might be fun.

Both cities have lots of family-priced hotels/motels. I favor the Courtyard Marriott on the weekends -- they have good weekend deals, often with breakfast. Drury Inns also offer a full breakfast which really works nice for a reunion group. Good luck!

someone should do some research on travel costs. find out which cities are cheapest to fly into.

In attending a conference once, the organization looked for cheap venue (which is FINE with me these things are expensive) but they didn't think about people flying in (and they were paying flight) so they went to a city that was expensive to fly into for everyone - no savings for the organization (that person doesn't work there anymore) .

Even if you are on both coasts, flights can be cheaper going to major hubs, like florida , california, denver, seattle.

I know it's more expensive for me to see my sister in iowa than it is to visit my friend in phoenix, and i am on the east coast....

Thanks to its being a hub for Southwest and Midwest, Kansas City is an inexpensive city to fly into from most of the country.

Fly Midewst Airlines if you can!

Snow Mountain Ranch, a YMCA of the Rockies, near Winter Park, Colorado. It is always listed as one of the best places in the US for family reunions, but it books up early. They now have two special log cabins that accomodate about 24 people each. Lots to do in the area for everyone.
