family reunion destination - east coast

I am heling my mother find a place where we can all go (10 adults with diverse interests from golf to hiking to doing nothing! PLUS 5 children from 3 - 16). We would love a resort where we could accesss amenities and activities but one where we could have our own house to stay in. There are budgetary concerns, but we don't want anything too rustic (say, along the lines of a YMCA camp)

I know I am asking alot and may cound picky, but it is so hard with such varying needs/desires. Many thanks in advance!

New Seabury, in Mashpee on Cape Cod, has lots of rental units amongst their condos. It's right on the beach and there are plenty of other recreational options. We had a family semi-destination wedding there a few years ago and it worked out great, since each family unit had their own townhouse but they were clustered together.

Asheville, NC seems to meet your activity requirements, plus many properties are available at reasonable cost through vbro.com

Work backwards - from where is everyone coming and are they flying, driving, etc. Cost and accessibility is often a consideration. For example, lots of people find Southwest a lower cost alternative but does not work from many locations and does not fly into Boston (but does fly into Providence, RI and Manchester, NH - just starting to fly from Boston to limiited locations). Also, time of year. Cape Cod would not work in January!

Or would a drive to parts of Cape Cod bother some people. I agree that Cape Cod would be a good possible destination and there are several properties there that might meet your needs.

Mashpee is 70 miles from Providence and 65 miles from Boston.
