Family resort with excellent pool in Phoenix area

Hello,
I'm planning a late March trip to Phoenix/The Grand Canyon. I'd love to stay at a big resort with a great pool for my three kids (12, 12, & 13). I don't want uppity, though, I like relaxed.

We're trying to book lodging at the Grand Canyon for three nights, then in Phoenix for another 3 nights.

Can anyone recommend a great pool resort in the Phoenix area?

Thanks!

Don't know your budget . .

The Marriott Desert Ridge has an amazing pool complex http://www.marriott.com/hotels/hotel...esort-and-spa/

But AFAIK - just about every resort hotel in the area has great pools

The Hyatts, Hilton Squaw Peak, Westins etc etc

Can someone please explain to me what "uppity" means. I have seen other people use it and don't have a clue.

The only meaning I know is of people in a subservient position - servants? - who behave as if they are better than they are. Doesn't seem to apply to a hotel - and I always assumed was racist code for middle class african americans.

Google produces the following:

self-important; arrogant.
"an uppity sister-in-law"
synonyms: arrogant, snobbish, hoity-toity, snooty, pretentious, bumptious, full of oneself, puffed up, conceited, pompous, self-assertive, overbearing, cocky, cocksure, impertinent, haughty, self-important, superior, presumptuous, overweening, uppish, high and mighty;

Merriam Webster agrees:

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/uppity

When applied to black people, "uppity" definitely has racist connotations:

http://www.thewire.com/politics/2011...-racist/45321/

But, when not applied specifically to black people, it is not a racist term.

Et voilà.

They should rename this forum "the mini lounge".

I googled "pools with water slides Scottsdale" and came up with the Phoenician (which we thought would be "uppity" but wasn't, the Westin Kierland, and the Hyatt Gainey Ranch. The Pointe Hilton Squaw Creek also has a really good pool area.

Hyatt at Gainey Ranch has a good pool complex and used to have Venetian gondola rides there.

We stayed at the Arizona Biltmore a couple of years ago on the way back from California . . nice, relaxed atmosphere and I saw quite a few teenagers while we were there.

Seems to me the OP is talking about casual versus formal - makes a whole lot more sense than "uppity".

Why is it incumbent on us to criticize every little word and phrase in a request? Especially since the meaning was obvious!

I think the problem some have is that uppity has a negative connotation. I don't think the OP meant it in that way but, it seems it did sound a bit off to some. Regardless, all straightened out now, so don't fuss over it.

If you can't read the context and see what was meant/intended . . .

The OP mentioned the children and wanting an awesome pool along w/ the 'not uppity' -- anyone reading that as racist lives in a much MUCH too politically correct universe. . . just MHO.

Oh, please. janisj and "humble" do not exist in the same universe.

If you choose the Biltmore, try for ome of the Cabana Rooms around the pool . . Hey we're all taken when we were there, but they looked really cool!
