Family resort in Scottsdale area
We are interested in a resort in the Scottsdale area which would have activities appropriate for a 14 y.o. and a 9 y.o. along with their parents and grandparents. None of the adults are golfers but all play tennis (except kids). Has anyone stayed at Gainey Ranch and if so what's your experience been like? Two adult members of our party are Very Active folks (limited hanging around the pool-time)so any place offering mtn. biking, hiking, fitness facility etc. would be ideal.

Thanks!

There are a lot of threads on this subject if you do a search. Many of the popular recommendations I found to be over $300/nt even $400/nt. We have opted for the Sunburst Resort the first week in April for $239. It has a zero-entry pool, water slide and lazy river with inner-tubes at the resort. www.sunburstresort.com

We are certainly looking forward to our vacation in 6 weeks!

Hi,
Some resorts to consider are: Doubletree/La Posada with a 2-story waterfall, swim-through cave and volleyball; Hyatt-Regency (Gainey Ranch) has a fabulous water playground with a sand beach, plus a water slide. They have a Kamp Kachina w/supervised activities. This property is absolutely gorgeous.

Francie

We have stayed at the Hyatt at Gainey Ranch several times. You just can't beat it for outdoor ambience. The pools are spectacular. There is a seperate "sandy beach" for kids, water slide, etc. and they actually show movies at the pool at night that kids can sit in intertubes in the water and watch. The pools are so plentiful that there are quieter areas for adults. At night, the whole area is lit beautifully and they have great music in the open air lobby/bar and you can sit outside and listen. The rooms are fine, nothing great, but nice, typical Hyatt. There's a new spa, golf, tennis, walking trails, etc. Gondola rides in the lagoon in front of the pool at night. We loved it. Great for all ages. Have a great time!

I've stayed at the Gainey Ranch with kids younger than yours. The outdoor facilities were great. The rooms were small and not that fabulous for what you pay. Then again, you are really paying for the outdoor amenities.
