Family relocation
Hi,
I'm from the Northern Virginia area and hoping to relocate my family- husband, and 2 kids- to a somewhat slower, less expensive area on the east coast. Vermont is too far north- NY may even be and NC is too far South. I'm particularly interested in PA and DE- any thoughts on a mid size town- I'm looking for culture and maybe even some anonymity- good schools and good access to recreation such as biking without the density of population that there is around here. I'd love to hear what anyone has to say. Thanks, Hope |
Chester County, Pennsylvania has many excellent school districts. The top is Tredyffrin-Easttown. There are many nice neighborhoods in this school district (Wayne, Berwyn, Paoli...). It is very close to Valley Forge Park where you could do a lot of biking. It is about 25 away from PHiladelphia.

Sounds like a nice area - but is it really less expensive than northern VA (the OP doesn;t say where exactly - and I know some areas there are quite pricey - but some aren't)? They generally aren;t giving anything away near Philadelphia either.
Perhaps a housing budget would help people to make suggestions. |
Why move out of state? Have you considered Shenandoah County? House prices are still fairly low, taxes aren't too bad yet, and unemployment is low.
We moved from Fairfax to Woodstock seven years ago and really enjoy this little town of 4000. |
Thanks for the responses- all very appreciated.

We're now considering Stroudsburg PA- anyone know anything about that area?
|
I won't pretend to know a lot about Stroudsburg, but it sure isn't a cultural center. I've lived in PA for a long time, and the Poconos is not place I would look at if I cared about having a variety of good restaurants and access to museums, theaters, etc. It probably has good access to outdoor activities though.
