Family Hotel Recommendation?
 

I'm planning a trip with my family of 4 to D.C. during late March. Will focus on national monuments and museums. Not sure what hotel to choose. Require a clean, safe, centrally located hotel in the under $150 range. Would prefer to walk to as many sites as possible or alternatively, have convenient transportation. A pool for the kids and nearby restaurants would be nice, but not musts. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Try the Embassy Suites Chevy Chase Pavillion. Has a pool, connected to a shopping mall which has Metro access, and you can usually get AAA rates of 150/night or so.

I can vouch for the Embassy Suites in Old Town Alexandria. It is right across the street from the Metro Station so makes traveling into town very easy. It seems like new, very nicely decorated and clean. Great breakfast buffet and family friendly. We have reservations to go back there in mid Dec for $103 a night(special weekend rate) Has complimentary shuttle to take you into downtown Alexandria which is a charming little town in itself. Not centrally located but I didn't find being outside of DC a hinderance at all and enjoyed the subway rides. Good luck and have fun.

I would agree that the Embassy Suites in Chevy Chase is a great choice. Better choice price-wise than right downtown, in a great area, and right next to a Metro stop. However, I found travelling with 4 kids that it was cheaper to drive into DC and park in any office building than to take the Metro for that many people. Since Chevy Chase is a suburb (though so close to DC attractions) there are lots of reasonably priced family-friendly restaurants in the area.
