Family friendly resort hotel in S. Florida
We're celebrating my dad's 90th birthday over Thanksgiving Weekend.
He and my mom are in South Florida, so the thought is to convene in a family-friendly resort hotel somewhere between Palm Beach and Miami, to minimize wear and tear on my parents.
"We" is one family of six (kids 13, 11, 8 and 8) and another family of four (kids 11 and 8).
We've done Disney World and Disney Cruise in the past on big birthdays. We are truly blessed with Dad's longevity, but honestly, we're running out of great ideas!
We'd love a resort property with a great pool and stuff for the kids to do. But I'm unlikely to sell my sister on the deal if the rooms are over $300 per night, as she and I will split the bill.
Many thanks for any suggestions.

I think you should go and stay at a place near Disney, my fiancee and I stayed there at our first time - its called Liki Tiki, or Tiki Liki. It is more of a little house because ours had stairs, balcony, and two rooms with one with a twin bed and the other with a queen sized bed. They have colorful paintings and I think they have a pullout sofa. They have a TV and the house has an attached other house and your friend could stay there.

We have not stayed here but I've read good things about it. A lot right here on Fodors. Lauderdale By The Sea. It might fit your needs. http://www.lbts.com/
Congratulations to your Dad!

Check out the Boca Resort. It is very family friendly and might be perfect for your situation. You can get a cloister one bedroom suite for low 300s or a cloister room for less or you can look into the bungalow suites-- perfectly suited for families, but you may exceed the maximum capacity of 2 people to a one bedroom suite and 6 to a 2 bedroom suite. The 1 bedroom ones go for mid 300s thanksgiving weekend. be advised, the cloister is the oldest area of the hotel and gets some negative reviews, but they are the cheapest options.

What about Lago Mar in Ft. Lauderdale? Great beach, 2 pools, tennis cts, putting green, putt-putt, and shuffle board - or at least it use to have all this. Great for families. Don't know if this location is what you are looking for.
