Myrtle Beach has some really good deals after mid-july. The best way to go is to find a room with a kitchenette or a small condo for the week so you don't have to eat out all the time. The eating out can really drive up the cost for a family. If you don't want to be right in the midst of the hub-bub (although that's where the cheapest deals usually are in MB) you can look at surrounding areas north and south of MB. Good luck!

East Coast, West Coast, Gulf of Mexico? and when? Summer beach trip are always alittle pricey, no matter where you go. We go to the beach for less $ after the season is over or just before it begins. East coast in late Sept is my favorite. Wildwood NJ or Montauk NY. Gulf coast Panama City FL or Orange Beach AL, West Coast Seaside OR. Anytime after school starts and during the week, or in the north before school lets out and during the week is less crowded and not as costly we also like the shore at Lake Erie. hope this helps.

Topsail Beach, NC. Even in mid-Summer, you can rent Waterfront for less than $ 1200 a week. Off season can be much cheaper. I've rented Waterfront in early October for $650 a week. There are several motels that are even cheaper.

Just came back from a trip to Myrtle Beach and had a wonderful time.
We, too, stay out of the hub-bub and take a condo on about 52nd. Perfect area, nice beach. We stay at Forest Dunes and have always been very happy.
