Hi, We're going to Navarre Beach in April of 2004. I've really only heard about Destin and Pensacola.I do remember reading about a state park or something at the end of the beach?? May I ask where your staying? I hope you all have a great time, sounds like a beautiful, relaxing place!!

Sorry it took so long to answer. We're staying at Navarre Towers on Gulf Blvd. The Navarre Beach State Park is also on Gulf Blvd. By the addresses, I believe they are close together. |
Navarre used to be one of Gulf coasts best kept secrets. My family has been going since early 70's and consider Navarre one of the best place for a beach vacation. The water, beach, and natural beauty is the appeal. Navarre is located on peninsula with access by toll bridge. There is a protected state park to the left when you cross bridge. Very pristine and wild, natural beach. (Used to be nude beach mile or so down but it got "butted"' out by authorities!) Not much in way of "activities" on Navarre Beach, depending on what you are looking for in activities? Destin is the best choice to go to for the theme park, water park, kids/active adult fun places. Destin is less than hour away. In Pensacola you have Naval Air musuem, lighthouse, big city attractions type. Great choice for your vacation in Navarre! Have fun.

I'm looking for boating. Would like to rent a pontoon or deck boat for an afternoon for the 10 of us. Possible? Is canoeing at Milton worth it? |
Santa Rosa County (where Navarre is) bills itself as the canoeing capital of Florida.
I've lived in the area for 43 years and have been going to Navarre for many years, was there today for work. If you've never been canoeing in Milton look up the Adventures Unlimited website and it should give you all the information you need. Regards, RM |

I would just like your personal opinion if you thing tubing in Milton is fun for the whole family. Thanks |
cd, the only place you might be able to rent a pontoon would be on Choctawatchee Bay in Destin. Adventure Rentals on Destin Harbour, 850-837-3041. Choctawatchee Bay is huge and I remember the last time I was on pontoon, had dolphins swim up to boat! Don't feed though, big fine. Sunsets can be spectacular.

Hi Cd:
That is a loaded question for me. My wife is a kayaking/canoeing nut. She absolutely loves it. I grew up canoeing the rivers and streams here in Santa Rosa County. I also frequently went to the beach in my younger days. I couldn't care less about canoeing or the beach now. That being said, yes, canoeing would be a great family outing. Juniper Creek would be a fine day canoe trip. The water varies in depth from ankle deep to way over your head. There are many sandy beaches to pull up to and eat/swim. If you've never canoed, you'd probably have a blast and it is very easy to paddle as they take you up stream and you float down to the landing...really all you have to do is steer the canoe if you don't want to paddle. Reagrds, RM |
and regards too....
