<BR>I had Sept. 15th circled in RED. I'm looking for the annual fall leaves report. It is suppose to aid me in deciding on the best route to drive during my Oct. 13th-Oct. 26th visit to New England. Will start in Boston and tentively plan to head towards Montreal via Main, New Hampshire, Vermont(not in that order). Will appreciate any ideas. Thx

You can find Yankee magazine on the internet http://www.newengland.com/ for some good info. The leaves are just beginning to turn in the Concord NH area and we saw a little color at higher elevations last weekend in VT. Peak is usually Oct12 for the Foliage Festival in Warner NH. The nights have gotten pretty cold so leaves will start turning more quickly. The coast is warmer than inland so will turn later in the Portsmouth NH area. Maybe you should go up thru VT and back down thru Maine. Beware the weekend traffic, it will be really congested in the NH mtn areas-i.e. avoid North Conway. <BR>

Definitely check out Foliage Central at www.newengland.com. You are starting a bit late - if you can change your dates, it would be better to end your trip around the time you plan to start. I, too, strongly recommend that you start with your northern most destination and work your way south and west, as that is how the colors move during the season. Also advise that you finalize and book your dates in Boston immediately. The hotels are all nearly booked.

Starting in Boston is a great idea. Make sure you go to the Boston Commons, proceed through the Public Garden and then walk down the tree lined center of Commonwealth Ave. This spot is my favorite in the whole world. I can sit there all day and let the world go by. <BR> <BR>Definitely visit Walden Woods in Lexington and see it like Thoreau saw it. You may not get many chances with suburban sprawl development inching towards it.
