Fall foliage in Hudson Valley

My husband and I are looking to get away for a Sunday and Monday in mid-October to relax, and look at some changing leaves. It seems as though many people recommend the Hudson Valley. We are undecided on where to stay- The Belvedere on Beekman Arms? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Oh how I miss our yearly jaunt up to the Beekman Arms and apple picking in Rhinebeck!! weep weep...
OK, now that I am finished with feeling sorry for myself...
Belvedere is geared more towards luxury and spa stuff...cushy rooms, etc. And not in town.
The Beekman is a grand old place, with a wonderful pub downstairs, noisy wooden stairs up to the rooms..big beds with four posters and big windows.
Right in the heart of Rhinebeck..you can walk across the street to breakfast and to dinner at the Le Bistro( I think that is the name)
I have not been there in a year and I miss it so.
While there, do take a picnic and go to the Vanderbilt Mansion, go into the woods and have your picnic and imagine what it must have been like to live there :)
Go to the Aerodrome and laugh and marvel at those old planes and their stunts.
Apple pick. Bring home a pumpkin for me :)

You can't go wrong with either one. But, make your reservations soon. That's a busy time in that area.

Thanks to you both. It sounds like a lot of fun. I guess which ever place has an opening will be the one for this time of the year :)

Scarlett, thanks for the great suggestions. We took a day trip up to this area last fall and had a wonderful day! There are historic drives to be done and small wineries to visit too. I'd love to go back and do an overnight. The Beekman sounds perfect!
