Fall Foliage in Boston and weather
 

I'm travelling to Boston end of October. Is this a good time for fall colours.

Peak will likely be well past, especially north. Perhaps some color heading south - towards Rhode Island and Cape Cod.

Weather - even the forecasters here can't get it right 24-48 hours out, so who knows. Could be anywhere from 70s (unlikely) to 40s (likely at night, hopefully warms during day.) Weather.com gives averages for months, but in Boston these are not useful, since range can be so wide. Bring layers of clothing, including rain gear. It will not snow not will you be able to swim at a beach.

You're too late for most everything. Central Park in Manhattan has leaves turning end Oct/beginning of Nov - but everyplace outside the city is peak about Oct 15 - and that's considerably south of Boston.

I must disagree. There is still the prospect of some color in and around the near suburbs of Boston.

I have a vivid memory of having been hospitalized in Boston for surgery in '01 and on our return home, the trees along Rte 9 in Newton were ablaze of color and that date was November 4th.

Actually, this year you'll be right on time. We had a very hot summer and the leaves have barely started to turn in the city (I live here so I see it firsthand). I think the end of Oct will be peak or just past peak. Either way, you'll see some nice color.

Just returned from Cape Ann (just north of Boston) coastal area - leaves are just starting to turn - you may be OK.
