Fall Foliage in 4 days

We are planning a trip to see the fall foliage in the New England area in the first weekend of October
We will arrive from the Europa and we have only 4 days to disposition.
Which would be able be the ideal base?
Boston, Bangor for see Acadia National Park or Burlington ?
We want not rent a car, so we search for the Daily Bus Tours for visit the area.
Are there tours of 2-3 day in depart from Boston to visit the Fall Foliage also in the Maine, Vermont or Rhode Island ?
Thanks !!

Monica to visit every place mentioned you will need to rent a car. If you fly to Burlington it is so easy to get around. No traffic if this what you worry about. From there you could take a ferry across Lake Champlain or continue East through Vermont to New Hampshire and Maine. Rent a car.

If you type NH + foliage tours into your search engine you might get some ideas. This is one agency which looks like it offers short trips
http://www.newenglandtours.com/group1.htm

From Boston you could take a bus to Concord NH or Portsmouth NH which are both good walking cities. In Portsmouth it would be easy to get a boat tour of the harbor which would offer nice foliage views. In Concord you could rent bikes or a car. Acadia is beautiful but I don't remember if it's mostly pines/spruce and if so, would lack the pretty colors you would see further south. If you flew into Boston and took a bus to Burlington or Hanover NH, Rt 89 is very beautiful in the fall even if it is a major highway. It goes from Concord NH up thru VT. Even the regular daily bus would give a pretty ride.

Here's a website from a local agency that is offering a 1 day tour on Oct 3 with a pickup point in Concord NH.
http://www.tyestravel.com/Page1.asp

A lovely New England town in the middle of colorful Vermont is Woodstock. The Woodstock Inn is a beautiful, but expensive, grand hotel that could book various tours and excursions. However, rooms are often booked a year in advance for foliage season.
Perhaps you can base in Boston, and find a day trip, or overnight with room included, to the Woodstock/Quechee area of Vermont.

Thank you very much for your suggestions.
I have found even a Gray Line Tour "Fall Foliage Spectacular Tour" in departure from Boston.
Anybody has experiences and comments ?
