It's very nice and is in a good location! What more do you have to know!

One of the grandest hotels in the world with marvelous views of the entire area. Make sure you have cocktails at sunset in their bar on the top, then take their glass-enclosed elevator down to street level.

It is certainly the "grande dame" of hotels. I think I heard it is currently undergoing renovations, so you should ask about that when booking.

The Fairmont is on top of Nob Hill, convenient to cable cars and walking. The lobby reminds one of a very fancy brothel, but that's part of the old time San Francisco charm. If they're taking out the red flocked wallpaper when they remodel, I'll be very disappointed! Very close by is another old landmark, the Mark Hopkins--equally good.
