Fairmont or Mark Hopkins San Francisco? Help- need to decide ASAP!

I know both are across the street from one another - rates ares comparable so what do you all think????? Thanks in advance!

Fairmont's rooms are very hit and miss...some in decent shape, some very old and dreary.
MH is OK but nothing to jump up and down about.
IF you can score a refurbished room at the Fairmont that's your best bet.

I've stayed at both this year and prefer the Mark.

Hey "fll", it's not really necessary to "top" a message that was just responded to a few minutes earlier. It's already at the top!

That having been said, I love the Mark Hopkins Intercontinental Hotel.

I much prefer the Mark. Smaller and much more intimate. Very old world SF.
One thing - the rooms vary in size quite
a bit. If you get a very small room ask
if they have anything else for you to see. Part of the charm of this hotel is
that it is old and the rooms are not all
exactly the same - but some are just too small. Have fun.
