Hi Faina, I so enjoyed reading your fantastic report regarding your trip to Isreal. You obviously had a wonderful time and it sounds like you were well fed!! I am sorry about the broken tooth but thank goodness that didn't happen until you were almost home.

It's a great report. Well, worth reading.

Faina~ I very much enjoyed your report. I regret not traveling there with my mom in the early 80's. I had several pen pals there, including one special one in the army who she went to visit, bringing gifts from Alaska for his family.
I am hoping that I will get another chance to make that trip, meaningful to me for many reasons. Thank you.

Hello, everybody! Thank you all for your comments.

Jetset, you can go with me next time ;)

Terrific trip report, Faina!! Glad to read we're not the only ones who don't get all that excited by food. Thanks for posting the link on the US site, I would have missed it otherwise.

Faina~ you are very sweet to even say that. The few Yiddish words I used to know fail me now, but I am glad you enjoyed your trip and have so many memories until you return.
My dear late mother kept an El Al blanket as a souvenir when she went!

Jetset: Yiddish? In Israel?? Forgive me, but you are so behind!!

Going to Israel - LEARN RUSSIAN!! ;)

Okay Faina,lol.. I didn't fully explain.. I was trying to remember some of my mom's pet phrases from yesteryear, like mensch and whatnot!
As a matter of fact and history, her dad emigrated from Russia as a young man. Her married my grandmother, but it was her sister that he was SUPPOSED to have married. So I do have Russian heritage,, and you are right, I should learn some Russian.
My mom was fluent in several languages and traveled from one corner of the globe to another during her life. Me, I managed some sixth grade Spanish and called it good!
Oh, I do miss the lovely South African accent which I heard during a visit there to meet three generations of relatives who settled from Eastern Europe at the turn of the century.
