Expert Air Fare Advice PLEASE
Tickets from Florida to Hawaii for travel in May and June have gone up and down drastically in the past few weeks. They are now at their second lowest - $612 round trip versus $594 the week before. Considering there was a sale for $388 round trip (thru February) just a couple of weeks ago, does anyone think I should hold out and see if the May/June tickets get cheaper? Or is that unlikely for that time of the year?
THANKS!
THANKS!

Does ATA fly from your city? They are supposed to be expanding their service to HI and this will probably bring some fare wars.
Are your dates set in stone or are you flexible? 600 doesn't sound too bad from FL if you can only fly on certain dates...but if you're a bit flexible I'd wait until Feb or Mar to purchase.

That $388 roundtrip is a fare that comes but once every few years. An extremely rare thing. The last time I saw those rates was after 9/11, or a freak computer glitch. My guess is last years rain, and the latest earthquakes have tourism numbers down. I would be very shocked to see a repeat of these rates for May. $612 is still a very decent rate from the east coast.

$388 "through February" (if you mean flying dates) has nothing, whatsoever to do with your dates. Or, if that fare was for YOUR dates, you should have pounced!
Or, you probably should have booked at the $594. You may never see that again. You may also never see the $612 again.
Air fares, at the moment, are no "bargain" whatsoever. If dates, times, direct flights, are important to you, the best bet is probably to shop like the dickens and then BOOK.
All in all, it's a crap shoot! Nowadays, prices are more likely to go up than down...
You'll find a plethora of articles on the web - the airlines have scaled way, way back with their schedules.
It's been years since we've seen any signficant "cheap seats" for our dates.
