Expedia pop-up must go

Alright I am about to give up on this site. Does that blasted Expedia pop-up drive anybody else crazy, or am I the only one. Fodors please get rid of this it is maddening. If anyone else agrees with me lets rally to get fodors to get rid of it. At this point I will never use Expedia just for spite. Hear that Expedia. AAARRRRGGGHH!

Certainly agree. It is exceedingly irritating and my pop-up blocker doesn't block it. Get rid of it, Fodors.

Its never really a bother to me, just click on the X. I usually freq the travel talk area and so I never see the "expedia.com" pop up. Its free information, stop whinning.

I hate it too, but NOTE: It's a roll-over banner, which means you may be activating the pop-up yourself by inadvertantly rolling over one part of it with your mouse-cursor as you go from the left side of the screen to the slidebar on the right.

See if it helps to be aware of where your cursor is going as you cross the screen and stay AWAY from the Expedia banner.

I wish I could just click on the X! The problem is, I don't see where to do that, so it drives me nuts. Obviously I'm missing something. Please tell me how to close the pop up.

Judy24, there's no X because, as Cass has figured out, it's a rollover pop-up, that will fade out on its own after a few seconds. The trick is not to let the cursor-arrow touch it in the first place.

That pop up add is a big sponsor for Fodors. So, it keeps this forum running, since this forum generates no revenue on its own. Get used to it.

It is annoying, but I find it rather funny, and sad at the same time, how impatient we all are. Life moves at such a fast pace that no one can stand even a few seconds of delay to get where they want to be.

The internet is such an amazing and wonderful thing, but sometimes I fear its effects (along with cell phones, pdas, etc) on our society!

I realize that this site requires advertisement to pay for it and I do not mind them as long as you have a way to get rid of it, the expedia one just pulls down over what you are reading and does not go away till it times out. There is no way to make it go away. There is nothing wrong with advertising, just don't make it so annoying that it irritates users. It is not the rollover that is irritating because you can get rid of that. And "bluestructure" if people did not express their opinions nothing would ever change. Your "stop whinning" comment was just totally uncalled for, I don't understand why people have to be just plain nasty. Why dont you just "STOP" period.

Just scroll down the right side to hide it.

In advertising the purpose is to subliminally enter our subconscious state, so in the future if we need a flight/hotel I bet EXPEDIA will "pop up". Just this post alone is advertising for them.

I alway get that pop-up when I want to "jump to the last post". It's annoying. If I need an Expedia search I'll just go to it's website, why would I want to leave the Fodor's forum for that?

I usually scroll down or even 'Alt-Tab' over to another program until it goes away, but it is annoying and makes me want to never do business with Expedia.

I have never seen this pop-up. In fact I never see ANY pop-ups. www.adsgone.com Free to try, then $18 a year and worth every penny.

Thanks for your reply, soccr. I thought I was crazy because I couldn't find the X that bluestructure said to click on. Then again, that'll teach me to take advice from someone who can't spell "whining." (j/k)

I'm glad you brought this up gmoney because it is very annoying to have that Expedia pop-up everytime I click on the posts. I have to wait for it to stop and sometimes I accidently click on it. It makes me hate Expedia! I do wish it would stop.

Yes, I really hate it, too. But I recognize that advertising is a part of life, so I could tolerate it if they'd build in that "X"; what drives me crazy is having to wait while it takes its time--no, MY time--to close.

Must be the stubborn German in me but I make a mental note which pop ups occur EVERY time I open up a certain site (like Expedia on this forum) and never ever use their services. Sorry--guess I'm kind of grumpy today!

www.panicware.com.

It is free and it blocks ALL pop-up ads. I didn't even know Expedia had pop-up ads on this site.

They also have a version that you can pay for, but I just use the free edition and have absolutely no problems.
