Curious - I have the free Panicware pop-up stopper and it does not block the Expedia rollover banner ad. It only blocks pop-ups and does a good job at that.

Craig,

I have never seen an Expedia "roll over banner".

It's very annoying, I thought I was the only one bothered by it. Grrrr!! ***kim***

My husband activated a feature in *Zone Alarm* that we're trying out (free at first) and that has vanquished the demon!!! I despise the thing!!! :-( It's not having the *X* to close the thing that infuriates me......... and makes me want to use Expedia's competitors! ;-)

I get very annoyed with this popup, expecially because it keeps popping up over and over again. On principle, I plan to stay away from Expedia in the future!

We don't get any pop-ups!

Heartburn3 Apr 17th, 2004 11:13 AM

I would rather see a pop-up ad than something flashing in my face that I can't get rid of! Just be patient and it will go away quickly. I just move the cursor to the bottom of the screen so it's not in the area of the pop-up and it seems to go away quickly.

I'd also like to see the talk menu on the home page have a pull-down menu so we wouldn't have to wait for a page to load just to get to our topic. That would be fantastic..... are you paying attention, Fodors????

What is all the fuss about? I never noticed the Expedia ad before. Out of sight, out of mind. I guess it depends on where your mind is. I never look at, or think about the ads.

I've never seen this ad, but I use Zone Alarm (free version) AND Filter Gate ($35 one time download) and between the two, banner ads, pop-ups and third party redirects are history now.

BTW, if this site still needs some additional revenue, someone could create the "SJ Weirdo Bullsh*t Blocker." This nifty program will handily zap out any post from any screen name that the Weirdo can come up with. It will play "I Left My Heart in San Francisco" whenever he logs on to Fodor's, as a warning to us all that he is on the board. And it will automatically send time stamped copies of the Weirdo's posts to his boss, so he can get the EAP that he needs.

Personally, I'm willing to pay big bucks for this program.

questionmotives, So what about those of us who do not have a Boss??? Looks like your Bullsh*t Blocker works only for people who need a boss. \:D/

I agree. They need to get rid of that darn Expedia pop up. It's very annoying!

crys Apr 18th, 2004 03:16 PM

The one that just shows up at the top of the page is fine. The one that blocks the text is incredibly annoying. It's having an opposite impact from the one intended by Expedia. I use Expedia all the time, and it makes me want to switch to Travelocity or Orbitz, even though I don't like them as much.
