Returning to US for 4 1/2 week vacation.Ft. Lauderdale, one week, then to Newtown Pa. Three and 1/2 weeks. I return from NY JFK to Frankfurt Ger. on the 12th of Aug. I will have to fly from Phila. or Newark to KC Mo round trip. I have browsed on Cheap Tickets and Expatica for best fares. Any other suggestions ?

I like to use Orbitz.com to compare prices and itineraries then go to the airline website to book the actual tickets.

Low cost airlines like Southwest and ATA may not show up on search engines, so check their websites directly.

A quick browse at orbitz shows RT tickets EWR to KC for $300 on several airlines.

Air travel in the US this summer has been booming, with very full planes and low fare going fast, so don't delay. If you find a price you are ok with, buy it. Prices won't be going down closer to departure date, they'll only be going up.

Try kayak.com and mobissmo.com too. They are megabots and I think they pull from all airlines, not just the biggies.

Did you try Airtran for the FLL flight?

Don't know if you have airfare to/from Ft. Lauderdale booked, but also check airports in West Palm Beach (PBI) and Miami (MIA) if you have access to car or someone to pick you up. each city is about 45 minutes apart and sometimes different airlines have different deals to each city.

I like sidestep. You download the tool bar, then whatever other site you are looking at, sidestep pops up with their fares. Very handy.

Briefly..My cost for this trip in euro, with Delta: Frankfurt to Atlanta to Miami. Connecting flight one week later..Ftl to Phl then three weeks later return JFK to Frk direct. My price of 830€ also includes round trip ICE train Kaiserslautern-Frankfurt ($1060.00).A Good deal.

It is a lot easier here in Germany to get good last minute flights, ie with L'tur. If you are flexible you can even wait for the last 72hrs to book.I was hoping it would be the same in the US.

Thanks to your info I did find a good price with Jet Blue.. Boston to JFK for $50. I had to modify my plans a little but, saved on shuttle service and I get to spend a little more time with my daughter.

Have a great trip! I just thought of another website. It may not help you now since it sounds as if you are pretty well planned but you can check for last minute deals site59.com and lastminutetravel.com I haven't used them but have heard good things about site59
