Exiledprincess recs for Chicago

I have been reading up on some of your dining recomendations and I was wondering what you suggest for Indian, Thai, or other ethnic places?. Does not have to be high end just very good. I'll be staying in the Riverfront area, but can take a cab if the place is worth it. I will be traveling with two children who will eat anywhere and well behaved. BUT I don't like to go to places that can be snooty when they see kids.

Others' two cents are welcomed.

My experience has been that if you are really concerned about kids dining, then call and ask about a kids' menu. If they don't have one, typically they will volunteer that the kitchen can accomodate your family. If they don't say anything like that, then you know you should look elsewhere.

Also, we tended to dine earlier when our kids were little, and that helped.

Finally, the ethnic choices you list are generally very open to family dining. American and Continental restaurants tend to be fussier.

That's my two cents.

Here's a couple not too far that are well regarded: Klay Oven (Indian, 414 N. Orleans St., Chicago
(312) 527-3999.) and Singha (Thai, 350 N. Clark St., Chicago
(312) 467-0300.) A good website for Chicago restaurants is the local "alternative" newspaper which you can find online at www.chicagoreader.com (under tab on left "Restaurants") which lets you search by neighborhood name or distance near a landmark, theater, etc.

Definitely Reza's Persian. It is wonderful food, and is savory, not spicy. The kids would love it. Very nice to kids.

I am sorry if this post more than once, but I don't think the site is working well.
