EWalk in Times Square

Has anyone been there?? Is it fully opened yet?? Is it just a shopping mall or an experience in itself?? Worth spending any time at during our 5 day trip??? We will be visiting New York for the first time in December and the hotel we are planning on staying at (The Westin at Times Square) is attached to "E-walk" but I can't seem to find any info on any website about it!! Any info is great!!

Visitor,

Haven't heard about the EWAlk yet. What is it supposed to be. There is SO MUCH construction going on in the area that the area is still changing pretty fast. I would love to hear if anyone else knows about this.

Thanks,
tweedy

I haven't heard the term EWalk but I believe part of EWalk houses a mutiplex movie theater and a rerstaurant or two. I was in the theater the other night and I noticed a new sign saying 'hotel". Didn't see an entrance but I assume there will be one to the hotel from the theater

Found the following on the Internet

Loew's Cineplex E Walk
This multi-screen movie house is but one component of a multimedia entertainment megaplex

Like many institutions in and around Times Square, the Loews 42nd Street E Walk gives its regards to Broadway. While not as mammoth as the AMC 25 across the street, this Loews theater has its own measure of Great White Way spectacle and neo-movie palace opulence. Reaching its theaters requires ascending a series of escalators past outlets to Chevy's Fresh Mexican restaurant, a Yankees memorabilia
store and other elements of E Walk. Arriving at the third floor, one is
greeted by a skyscraper montage towering over the refreshment stand.

Ewalk is not a big deal at all. It houses a movie theater and a couple chain restaurants. That's about it. It's not a mall. The AMC 25 theater across the street, which used to be the old, beautiful Empire theater (it was literally dragged from a block away) is much more impressive.

All previous posts correct and I'll add my two cents worth. In addition to the previously mentioned elements, there is a very large video type arcade. Viewed from further down 8th Avenue, the new Westin HOtel is really cool to look at - multicolred panes of glass on the exterior and a very interesting and colorful design from an aesthetic perspective (some of us like it and some don't but no denying that it's unusual). I go to the movies in NYC just about every weekend and much prefer the AMC25 to the Loew's E-Wal. AMC has IMO better seating and design and unquestionably a larger number of screens. They also usually have a few art house type films showing on the smaller screens - Loew's is strictly mainstream fare. There is also a very nice and not too overpriced cafe in the lobby of the AMC. Great place for coffewe, dessert and people watching or a light bite before a show. I go to quite a variety of movie theatres in NYC and elsewhere and this is my favorite (apart from the Sunshine on Houston which is great but has strictly art house films).

Thanks for all of your replies!! We are not so much interested in the movie theatre portion (since we have plenty of those at home!! , but assumed it is more like a huge entertainment complex??...Still wondering, is it worth wandering through or eating at any of the restaurants??? Any good places in particular??

Owen said it all...there's really nothing to "wander through". There's one or two chain restaurants (Chevy's and ??), an arcade and a movie theater. Maybe there will be some shopping in the future, but there isn't anything now, unless you count the few shops on 42nd street which are accessed from the sidewalk. There's a Hello Kitty store, a Metropolitan Museum store, and maybe one other store.

I think the Museum Store is closed already! And why is it they've only put in lousy, icky restaurants on the "new" 42nd Street? Thank God for the Ninth Avenue places.
