Evening Entertainment in Santa Fe

We'll be travelling to Santa Fe in early October. Any good suggestions for what to do in the evenings? We are not big on loud smoky bars or a party scene.

There are about a gazillion wonderful restaurants (all shapes, sizes, dollars) in Santa Fe. So, eating at night would be one option.

I like strolling around the plaza area at night, looking at the shops and the people walking.

But, perhaps, the coolest thing to is to see twilight fall out in the country side. Best bet if you're planning a trip to Taos, is to time it so you're coming back so you'll be on the High Road around twilight. Awesome colors.

You could drive out to the aerial tram and watch the sun set and have dinner or drinks at the top. Many of the bars and hotels have wonderful Kiva foreplaces to sit by with your drink and conversation. We usually found that after walking and exploring all day, followed by a nice dinner, we were tired and did not seek out nightlife for the sake of going out .

You must have dinner at Vanessie. After dinner, go straight into the piano bar and have a ball! Most of the public restaurants and bars in Santa Fe are non-smoking, so it shouldn't be a problem. Another fun spot is the Pink Adobe's Dragon Bar. I also agree that watching the sun set up on the mountain is beautiful!! Drive up Artists Road to the Hyde Park area and just pull off.

Someone please help me remember the name of the restaurant that features opera-singing waiters in Santa Fe! Actually, the opera is in the cafe adjacent to the restaurant; we were in the more quiet, formal restaurant, but the scene next door sounded like fun. Food was awesome. The Dragon Bar at the Pink Adobe is definitely worth a visit; it was loose and fun at around 6pm, so I can only imagine it would be a riot later. It's not a big bar, just an old-fashioned charmer. (But I'd skip the Pink Adobe, we thought it was pretty poor for dinner.)Otherwise, I, too, would suggest long, leisurely dinners to fill the evenings!

One evening I would suggest booking an outdoor tub at 10,000 waves. There is nothing like sitting in the hot water for a private soak, while the sky changes dusky colors around you.

If the weather is nice many restaurants will have their patios open, which is a nice way to have an evening dinner.

The only Aerial Trams I know of in Santa Fe are the ski lifts. Do you mean the tram that goes to Sandia Peak in Albuquerque? Not a bad idea, but it is an hour's drive each direction.

E, you are thinking of La Casa Sena. That is a fun place and the food is good too.

Thanks, Bay Area, that's it. Food was to die for...
