Eureka Springs

My husband and I and our toddler are thinking of going to Eureka Springs for a long weekend. Any suggestions on kid friendly activities and places to stay? We would like a nice and very clean place to stay that is okay with kids (I know some bed and breakfasts don't let you bring kids). Any suggestions would be great!

Passion Play is about all I find good in ES. yes, there is some good dining spots as well. I don't particuarly like ES. They have all sorts of

They have all sorts of controvery over all the rallies they have there.

What rallies?

The Passion Play is incredibly tacky. The Jesus statue there looks like a 5 year old made it in craft class.

Eureka Springs has many diversity weekends, biker weekends, corvette weekends, etc. Its really awful how they are accepting and how they try to include everyone. Some people think its much better to discriminate against these people.

Things that a toddler might like would be the Belle of the Ozark cruise on Beaver Lake, horse back riding, swimming, Onyx Cave, the Eureka Springs and North Arkansas Railway, and Turpentine Creek big cat sanctuary (lions, etc.),

biker rallies, gay rallies, car rallies, etc. I don't go somewhere to be thrown in the mix with someone elses idea of a good time. You try to go down the street or sleep with any of these going on. I just don't like stuff like that. It seems to me they have something going on to this effect every time we have been. I think I remember some stabbing incident within the past 6 months at one of the rallies. Frankly, I find most of the shops there to be junk.

Yep, Branson is far more classy. The entire town of Branson and its strip malls and music halls will soon be designated a National Historic site just like Eureka Springs!

We do enjoy Branson, we don't Hot Springs. We do like the Passion Play.

I actually live in Eureka Springs and absolutely love it. There are many types of places to stay. Bed and Breakfasts, Hotel's, Motels and Cabins. You don't have to stay downtown where it is louder, but there are many places within 3-5 walk which are tucked in historic neighborhoods. There is horseback riding, canoeing, shops, spas, fishing, hiking, etc. The restaurants in town are wonderful.
The rallies that was mentioned was a while back and willnot be coming back. There is diversity in this city and it is well accepted. It is a safe, peaceful town and if someone wants to come where there is beautiful architecture, history, entertainment, this is the place. I like Branson for shopping. IT has gotten too commercial and crowded for me. Traffic jams are not my idea of a good vacation, I could get that in Dallas where I came from.
