Estes Park Lodging
I've already done a search and a ton of research elsewhere. Does anyone have a preference for Fawn Valley, Big Thompson Timberlane, or Lake Estes Inn and Suites. We will be travelling with two teens. I would prefer to be more in the woods than on the highway. I was looking at The Stanley but this forum changed my mind. Thanks for your help!

Hi Birdie, We have not stayed in any of the places you mention but we stay ever year, at Christmas time, at a place called Castle Mountain Lodge. Its situated on Fall River going toward Rocky Mountain Natl Park. Its a great place that has up to 3 bedroom cabins. Most of the cabins have fireplaces and kitchens.
The Stanley Hotel is a fun place to visit but it is a very old hotel with small rooms. It was built by the guy that built the Stanley Steamer Auto. Have fun! We love Estes Park. |
Can recommend Fawn Valley. Nice rooms with kitchenette, hot tub on balcony overlooking wood and stream.

Thanks for the ideas. I'll look into both.

A note on the Stanley, I assume the small rooms many have mentioned must be the standard rooms. We stayed in a deluxe and it was very large but unfortunatly the furniture was too small and sparse to fill it up. Just thought I would add that in case anyone else was looking into staying there.

We stayed at Boulder Brook along the Fall River in 2000 and loved it - separate bedroom and living room, kitchenette, deck right along the river. Beautiful setting. But, they book quickly. Otherwise, there are several other accomodations along the Fall River - most beautiful area to stay in and around Estes Park.
