Thanks for the warning. I'm suppose to stay in Estes tomorrow night - should I change my plans?
The fire is burning on all sides. Tragically a slurry bomber crashed 2 dead. hwy 36 is closed this morning. I would re think my plans
Hwy 34 from Loveland is open to Estes Park. The fire is concentrated around Hwy 36, which is 7 miles southeast of Estes towards Lyons.

I have read about the fire near Estes Park. Will it affect getting to/from RMNP?
We couldn't change our hotel reservations, so we went and I'm glad we did. The afternoon was a bit smokey, but the mornings were clear and beautiful.
Just returned from a few days in RMNP and Estes Park area. The fire is still burning, but as of Wed 7/24, there were no road closures or anything due to the fire. On Sun 7/21, we saw and smelled smoke and also had to take an alternate route due to road closure, but all was well on the following Wed. No visible smoke or probs. RMNP was beautiful!
