Estes Park, Co./restaurants/Boulder
 

My husband and I will be spending a day in the Estes Park area of Co..Anyone have any suggestions on good places for lunch and/or dinner. Also, does anyone know anything about the Boulder Mt. Lodge where we have reservations for 4 days this summer. Still have time to change my mind if need be. Can't afford elegant, but want clean, comfortable and nice. Thanks for any advise on either question.

The best place for dinner or lunch near Estes Park is a simple picnice by a beautiful lake or on a mountain top in Rocky Mountain National Park. IMHO Estes Park is the crowded tourist town you must get through to get to the park - but anything more than that is too much time!

Right in Estes Park is our favorite place--Sweet Basil. Has only about 9 <BR>tables and if you don't make reservations the wait can be over an <BR>hour. E-mail me if you would like the <BR>phone number. I haven't been to Italy <BR>but it is what I imagine authentic <BR>Italian to be.

I second Sweet Basil's. It's a great funky little place with good pizza and other Italian dishes. By the way, it's a little tiny place on the main road below the Stanly hotel. I've had some good pastries from Pippi's Bakery. And I had good homemade sandwiches, and soups at the little restaurant (sorry don't know the name) at a little shop to the east of the Safeway store (in the same plaza), just down a few doors from the card shop. <BR>Don't know anything about Boulder Mt. Lodge. AAA gave it two diamonds. It seemed a bit on the expensive side for a two diamond. But, then, anything is possible in Boulder. You didn't say what month. Estes Park is in low season until about Memorial Day. Looks like there's a new Holiday Inn Express in Boulder for about the same price,and I think you might get breakfast.

I have stayed at the Boulder Mountain Lodge and let me tell you, for the price it is unbelievable. I paid $55 a night, in January. There is a creek out front, a pool, a hottub, a mini-kitchen, and it was very clean. Very friendly place.....I felt at home. Will definitely stay there again. Only 10 minutes from Boulder and in downtown Boulder there is a walking mall. Downtown has any type of food you might want.
