Escalante Hotel Naples.

I booked a room at the Trianon Hotel in Naples for March. Lately I have checking out Expedia and other sites for discount rates at the Escalante. If I am given a great rate at the Escalante, should I ditch the room at the Trianon even if it is the smallest room at the Escalante? I need to know soon because I actually did get a decent rate and I don't know what to do.

Kalmia, I have seen the rooms at the Trianon and they are very nice and pretty roomy. I have not been inside rooms at The Escalante since the whole place was done, but I have heard numerous times that their standard rooms are very tiny and also tend to be very dark. So room-wise, I have no doubt that The Trianon will be better in that respect.

However, depending on what you are looking for -- The Escalante is a very pretty and "romantic" setting with extensive landscaping and a sort of "villa" feel as you wander through the buildings and courtyards. The Trianon is just a contemporary four or five story hotel building. Think nice Hilton or Marriot in decor and style.
And if you are planning on beaching, The Escalante is just two blocks to the beach, The Trianon is 10 blocks. The restaurants of Fifth Avenue sort of stretch the length between the two hotels.
I guess you'll have to decide which is more important.

Maybe I will just stick with my room at the Trianon. I have made reservations in the past through discount web sites and have gotten the worst room in the place!
Has anybody been to Caribbean Gardens? Is it nice for adults without kids?

I am embarrassed to say that although I've lived in Naples since 1977, I've never been to Caribbean Gardens, but everyone says it is great. Got to do it one of these days. I think it's more for adults than for kids.

I was at the Carribean Gardens last August with my husband and 2 kids. It is very beautiful, although very crowded with kids. If that's okay with you, I would recommend it. There are beautiful gardens (obviously) and the animals are fun, too. I'm headed back to Naples in Nov, too. Enjoy... its a wonderful area.

I just wrote that I was there in August. It wasn't... it was March, so even with school in session, expect a lot of children. Its chaotic at times, but worth it.
