epipen injection on flights

Travelling to Calif in two days. My daughter had a severe food allergy a few days ago and needs to carry epipen in case of recurrent anaphylactic reactions. Has anyone had problems carrying this on board a flight? Should I bring it to security's attention? Thanks. Elliot

I would think that, as long as it carries a prescription label, security wouldn't have any problem with it. Pack it near the top of her carry-on. After all, what do insulin-dependent diabetics do? You could probably check on the TSA's website (which I think is www.tsa.gov) to confirm.

Thanks for the reply. THe TSA did have an answer. I'm sure the epipen is treated as diabetics would be. As you suggested can be bought on board. http://www.tsa.gov/interweb/assetlib...06-02-2003.pdf

I have to carry syringes for a medical condition. FYI, they always show up on the x-ray and they always have to be given to the flight attendants during the flight. If I need them, they will give them to me, but since 9/11, I have not yet been allowed to have them in my purse at my seat during a flight.

During the many flights I have taken since 9/11, the only place I've had trouble with security about my epi-pen is LaGuardia. I recommend carrying a letter from your doctor supporting the need for it.
