entertainment options in vegas
Two couples going to Vegas next week and the big shows we wanted to see (Danny Gans and "O") are sold out. Are there any other less expensive or less "hot" shows that are great that we should see? How about comedy clubs? Which club? Are there any must see things to do or see in Vegas? Need help soon.

There have been a lot of postings about this recently so you may want to do a search on this site for it.

My 2 cents: Mystere (also a Cirque du Soleil show)is wonderful...in some ways, I preferred it to O. I've heard good things about Blue Man Group but I've never seen it.

Hate to say it but you slept on getting your "O" tickets. The show is excellent so I heard. I really want to see the show and I am anticipating returning during early October and going to see it then.
Anywho, I recommend the Rick Springfield show at MGM Grand. Excellent. Note that you will need $60 bucks for almost anything you want to see (comedy or show biz). Also The Rio's DeLaGuarda is @$40 and pretty good if you like different. I recommend you do not dress up to see this show. Wear some work out clothes or something you are not afraid to get wet in. That's all I am saying but that's all. Have Fun!
Oh, my cubemate recommends Siegfried & Roy. She says those tickets were around $60 too.

Just because you couldn't buy tickets to "O" before getting to LV doesn't mean that you cannot get them.

On the day you want to see the show, just get in line 2 hours prior to the show. One hour before the show starts they will begin selling cancellations.

We did that last year, and we got great seats.

They do have a few "rules":

1) They don't guarantee that tickets will be available. However, I noticed that all the people in line (between 80-100) got tickets. Just before the show started, the guys at the ticket counter started yelling ""O" tickets for this performance are still available". I asked him if that was something common, he answered "never fails".

2) Each person in line can only buy 2 tickets, so try to have all your party there.

3) You don't get to choose places. They will give you "best available" seats. This means that you'll probably get the more expensive tickets, even if you don't want to.

4) Cash is preferred.

A friend of mine tried this last week, and they could easily buy the 5 tickets they needed.

"O" is wonderful, Mystere is great and Blue Man Group rocks!

saw Blue Man Group in May - at Luxor - FANTASTIC SHOW!!!
|
To those who have seen Blue Man Group...Would my two sons ages 14 and 10 like the show? Already booked Mystere but trying to decide on another show. Thanks for your help.
|
Your boys will not like the Blue Man Group... they will LOVE IT!!!!

When i started reading your thread, i immediately thought of Mystere and Blue Man Group. They are 2 of the best shows i've ever seen (and both are entirely different from any other show, as well as different from each other). I've also seen "O" and was much more impressed with Mystere.

Your kids should love the Blue Man Group. To the poster who said Siegfried and Roy tix only $60.00? Wow...last time I checked (2 weeks ago) they were at $100 each for good seats.

After reading your replies, I'm ready to buy Blue Man Group tickets for my husband, myself and 2 boys. Are there any seats that I should try and avoid? I can get 6th row on the right side on the isle...What's the story with the first couple of rows and ponchos??? Can ou see everything sitting in the first rows? Thanks for all your help.
|
I've only seen the show in NYC so i don't know how the Vegas theater is set up.

I would sooner try to get "NON-poncho" seats (but they'll be fine if your only other choice is to sit far back... in NYC, the poncho seats are only the first 3 rows). They give people in these seats ponchos to cover themselves, as there is some splattering and splashing of some paint and other things during the show. The ponchos will protect those people's clothing.
