Empire State Building

We ar going next weekend into NYC with 2 11 year old girls. We are going to the AMerican Girl Doll Store for dinner & the show on Friday night. We are then going to go the ESB. Has anybody done the NY Skyride? is it fun worthwhile enjoyable?

Thanks

Yes we have done the Skyride. Do not wate your money ! Its terrible. The kids will enjoy the view form the observation deck much more than that lame ride. Its definitly a tourist trap.

I agree with JoeA 100%. Biggest waste of money and even more so, TIME during a limited visit.

Whichever you decide to do...do yourself a big favor and buy your tickets online at their website
http://www.esbnyc.com/index2.cfm?CFI...FTOKEN=5668362

That is unless you like spending your time waiting in a huge line in the buildings basement...

Have a great trip!

There's a store near the empire state building that your girls may love, Opane at 6 West 32nd street. GO downstairs. They have all these little things with those cute japanese cartoon characters. All kinds of stickers, stationary, pens, journals, etc. and it's all very, very cheap (as compared to a regular card or stationart store).

I just want to agree with bk3--get your tickets before you leave home. It saved us a wait of over two hours.

How long is the wait if you DO buy your tickets on line?

Thanks for the information

We were there during Easter break
and thanks to this forum bought our tickets online but still waited maybe 1-1/2 hours. We would not do this again. This was the least favorite thing we did during our stay but I insisted on it because I felt it was a "must do."

Hi there LoveToTravel2! If the ESB was your least favorite, what was your most favorite? We will only be in NYC for one day and want to make the most of our time. Your input would be appreciated!

Like anything else lines are a crapshop. However, you noted you will be going in the evening and I've gone several times at night and with a ticket in hand had hardly any wait.

Personally, I prefer the ESB at night.
