Empire State Bldg: Where to go for lunch?

Planning on going to the Empire State Bldg next Tuesday (16th), if weather ok and would like a suggestion for lunch. Never been to New York so do not know the area. Will have our 16yr old daughter with us, she likes pizza burger or fries for lunch.
Also any other ideas where to sight see after the Empire in the same area? Thanks

After the Empire State Building, I'd suggest you walk up towards Times Square, which is about 8 blocks and two avenues away. (A 10 to 15 minute walk, at most.)

The restaurant options will be much better and for a teenager, the sites around Times Square will be more appealing. For food, a couple of good local spots are John's Pizza on 44th and 8th and Virgil's BBQ on 44th, between 6th and Broadway.

As for what to see, you have Madame Toussands wax museum and depending on the time of day, she catch watch them shoot MTV's live shows.

There are a few places at the bottom of the building that would probably work. Also around the corner on 34th St is Sabaro's, all of the above there.

For fun try Maui Wowie (not sure if it's correct spelling) but it's a cute place for Texish/Mexish food, good chips and dip and fun atmosphere, it's right on 5th Ave a block south of the Empire State on the west side of the street. I love the quesadeas there.

Good shopping at H&M right on 34th that she won't want to miss, and Express, Parade of Shoes, Macy's and Daffy's all in the same area.

Have a great time.

Hi: MadisonV

One of my favorite Pizza/Pasta place is on 32nd and Madison

Bella Napoli Go in and observe the coounter for the Pizza(great) stuffed calzones(awsome) Hero's Sandwiches (Yummy) or the special Bella Napoli Salad(ya gotta ask for it!)

Sit near the counter or in the back whre it is more formal...but not much

GREAT VALUE AND QUALITY!!

I used to work in the Empire State Bldg, and there's a pretty good pizza/pasta place in the lobby, right behind the escalators you take up to the elevators. There's also Big Apple Deli in the lobby, as well as an Au Bon Pain. Plenty of restaurant options in the area, including a deli / make your own salad place across the street on the 32nd Street side. Also the usual fast food suspects, Wendy's, Burger King, etc a block down on 5th.

As for what else is in the area, you have Macy's, Manhattan Mall, Madison Square Garden, along with a myriad of stores along the way, and places to eat along 34th Street heading west.

Just down the block from ESB on 32nd Street between 5th & Brodway is the heart of "Koreatown". The block is full of restaurants, my favorite being Wonjo at 23 W 32nd on the north side of the street, closer to Broadway. Go to the upper level and try some table barbeque.

Have fun!
