Emoticons have arrived! :)

I can't find anyplace Fodors has given us the UBB code for these new toys, but have figured out some and am sure there are plenty more I haven't hit. Some are animated, some not, and some will only do the animation once it seems (the next to last one in the list). I've seen one, a clown face in one of Scarlett's notes, I can't for the life of me work out. Here are mine. Additions?

The above are made by typing a colon then the symbol or letter to the right of them.

;) made with a semicolon )

Olive, all I did was type my usual smiley face colon and quotation mark-Fodors did the rest and surprised me!
Who knew~

:) :( :?

I know...it was a surprise! Yesterday afternoon was the beginning of it right? Do you remember what you typed where you now have the clown face? I think it was in the shoe thread.

There's a long thread on the Europe board about emoticons, including a link to the Fodors page that has details of all the icons available.

Thanks Dave...here's the link for anyone interested. www.fodors.com/forums/smileys/

I wonder if this means we can also use bold or italics or [red]colors[/red]?

I'll drink to that ((b))

Well, the emoticons do nothing for me. In fact, as a dial-up user on a slower modem, it just means MORE graphics to be downloaded, or having to turn on graphics completely. I quite well understand the old "text only" emoticons without Fodors help in "interpreting" them for me.

Now Fodors should give us an option in our profile whether or not we wish to receive the miserable things.

OliveOyl May 18th, 2003 04:03 PM

Looks like someone opened your mail to me!

rb...I'm on a dial-up too, 56k. It's not that bad, even in this thread that is full of them. The average thread will have a couple...how bad can that be even if you were on a 9600! Is there an icon for sour grapes? >:-) Sorry, couldn't resist that. ;)

Do you guys know to make sure you've used the correct keys for your emoticons you can actually preview them if you hit "preview my reply" first?
