Embassy Suites Washington DC
I am traveling to Washington DC this summer and I am going to be staying for one week at the Embassy Suites Washington DC Downtown located at 1250 22nd Street Northwest. I was just wondering if anyone has stayed here and what they thought of the hotel as well as the location and area.

Thank you!

Stayed there with our family 2X and was very happy. Good breakfasts, nice location, near lots of good restaurants, quiet, nice rooms. I would go back.

Thanks for the reply, anymore comments would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you again!

Haven't stayed at the Embassy Suites at 22nd St but did stay at the Old Town Alexandria location and loved it. It was new and very nicely decorated, right across the street from the metro station which made it very convenient to sight seeing in Washington. Great manager's reception and breakfast; also free shuttle service for a 2mi radius so got to eat in Old Town one night(nice to be able to save cab fare). Plan on staying there again if we can get up that way. Have fun!

Much as I love Old Town Alex., I'd stay at the Embassy Suites. More central, slightly better location.

My uncle stayed there last year. The rooms were a good size, and the location is great.

FYI, for the Old Town location, you wouldn't need to take a cab or shuttle to restaurants unless you have a physical limitation, as it's only a 22 minute walk from the Embassy Suites to the river. I walk it every day (not fast), so I know.

We stayed there last Aug with our 3 children and thought it was very nice. The trolley tour stops across the street and it is only a 10 minute walk to the metro. We also walked to the White House (20 min) from there. The value with the free breakfast and cocktails at night is unbeatable in a city where prices are so high! Highly recommend it!

I was just wondering should I walk to the White House and other attractions on the Mall from the Embassy Suites on 22nd Street or should I take the metro?

The hotel seems to be close to the attractions however with the heat in the summer, is it too far to walk do you think?

Thanks!

It gets pretty humid here, which can make walking miserable sometimes.

You are fairly close to the attractions, but it's still a hike. DC is a bit disconcerting in that it would take you close to an hour to walk from 36th Street to 16th Street, where in NYC, that would take you about 10 minutes!

That said, the metro isn't going to save you a lot of time, but it is air conditioned.

The only problem with the location is that you are "in between" Metro stops. You have a good 10-15 minutes hike to either the red or blue/orange lines. You are also right on the taxi zone line, so check with the hotel if it is worth walking 1/2 block to catch a cab or be dropped off.
