Embassy Suites

Traveling to Portland this summer. Was wondering if anyone stayed at the Embassy Suites there, Is it in a good location, etc.

I stayed there about a year ago. The hotel is very nice, however, I got frustrated getting back after my confrence let out. Portland has lots of one way streets and the signs aren't always easy to see. I kept passing the street I needed to turn onto to get back to the hotel. This seemed to be my problem, because my husband didn't seem to have a problem getting back. I would stay there again though. They have a great breakfast that comes with the price of the room, you just have to go downstirs to the dining room. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable and the valet parking is very quick. The location is near the Rose Quarter which is where they hold basketball games, conventions etc. It is also near the Broadway Bridge and the train station. Nordstrom and other stores aren't far either. If you're looking for a cool place to eat try Brassire Montmarie. They have live jazz on the weekends and a roaming magician. My husband and I go there about once a year when we're in Portland on business, we love it.

I live in Portland but have not stayed at the Embassy Suites. It is in a good location, two short Portland blocks from a MAX train stop. With that everything is nearby. Three blocks walk to waterfront park. Powells Books is about 7 blocks away.

My friend has worked at nice hotels and says the Embassy Suites is her favorite (she did not work there though). It's a beautiful old restored hotel. I've not been inside to see a room.

The Embassy Suites is really closer to the Burnside Bridge, not the Broadway Bridge. It is on the west side of the river (what we consider "downtown") whereas the Rose Quarter is on the east side - though in distance it is nearby (an easy MAX ride too).

Andrew
Stayed there a few years ago and really liked it. It is a restored hotel which gives it a different feel from other Embassy Suites. I appreciate giving a face lift rather than tearing down.

Location is good, walking distance to lots of places. It also has an evening cocktail hour with hors duerves (sp?).

Enjoy!

Any place w/ a free cocktail hour is in a good place! ;-)
Kal
