Elko, Nevada lodging
My husband will probably be stopping there, on a road trip in a week. Any suggestuions for a motel ($75. ish maybe)? Motel6 is cheap ($36.), but I think he'd like something a little nicer. Thanks! :-)

The nicest hotel in Elko used to be the Red Lion Inn/Casino. I don't know if it's still there under that name but if so, it's probably still nice.
Not sure the rate, but the Elko Hampton Inn is very nice.
Thanks you two! I found the Red Lion which is about $80.- a night, which is fine. I don't think there's a Hampton Inn at Elko anymore. There is a Hilton Garden Inn.
Hilton Garden Inn is a nice place to stay. They have great beds and they are all new.

You are so correct, it is a Garden NOT Hampton, I am sorry for my error. I loved as I crossed the country staying mostly at Hampton Inn's and always found friendly hospitality at any Hilton Family, guess that is why I filed in my mind, home at another Hampton. It is a lovely and clean hillside location, easy on/off the freeway and delightful helpful staff. I will still recomend the Elko Hilton Garden Inn. My timing was off so I was not able to waste the driving hours to overnight in Elko and dine with the Basque's I'd heard so much about, very disappointed, I drove on to Winnamucka(sp?) and stayed at the Red Lion and was grateful to rest but found it very old tired worn and not so clean, but not terrible.

I'm glad to hear it. I have recently had very good experiences at Hampton Inn, Hilton Garden Inn, Homewood Suites, and other Hilton Hotels. They seem to be putting forth extra effort to please their guests.

`But the Basque in Winnemucca is Wonderful.
I love the Martin, but there are several places. |
Thanks all. These recommendations really help. I think he'll go with the Red Lion.
Darn! Wish I'd known to look for Basque dining in Winnamucca!
Speaking of Basque restaurants, is there a decent one in Elko?
That's a good one. Thanks!
