El Segundo - Summerhill Suites
 

Does anyone have any personal experience with this property just south of LAX? The Tripadvisor reviews are either terrific or decidedly not. Can they be talking about the same place? Just would like to hear from someone who's been there recently, or knows the place.

I did stay there 3 years ago in Dec. We stayed for about 8 days. Now sure if it has changed much since then. what would you like to know? It was a typical Summerfield Suites property, better that some we stayed at. Ask away if you'd like,

CORRECTION - SUMMERFIELD SUITES!

This hotel gets a lot of lax business and families on vacation. In a good location to sightsee the LA attractions. It's across the street from the 405 Freeway and from Manhattan Beach for shopping and good beaches. Most people like it, but one person was in a building next to the train station, and the noise woke the family up early.

The "train" must be the light rail station. I'm surprised that they were able to hear it, but not be bothered by the airport noise.

El Segundo borders LAX on the north on Imperial Blvd. and indeed those residents hear airplane noise. (hotels are sound proofed) The southern border is several miles away, on Rosecrans Ave. Summerfield Suites is just off there and Douglas St. You cannot hear the planes. The building next to the train is noisy, the poster moved to a front location the next night.

This property is actually next to a freight train line, so some rooms might get noise from passing freighters. It's a safe area, but understand that it's in a decidedly commercial part of El Segundo. You're only about two miles to a beach, however, and the whole of southern California is freeway-close. Manhattan Beach, which is a quite nice little town, is the next city over.

Ah, it would be the freight trains, not the light rail that uses that station, that might be bothering them.
Actually being on Rosecrans that is a pretty decent location, other than the train and vehicle traffic.
