EL from O'Hare to Dana Hotel & Spa
I have reviewed the RCTA site and understand I need to take the Blue Line from O'Hare to get into downtown Chicago.
My question is when do I get off for Dana Hotel & Spa, 660 N. State Street? I put the address into trip planner, and it indicates I nee to transfer to a bus line. I couldn't determine if I could really walk between the EL and the hotel or if the bus transfer was necessary. I'll have a small wheelie, and am not opposed to walking. I'll be doing this at 9:30 in the morning, I'll be working with a red-eye flight brain and think the walk may help clear the cobwebs. Thanks for any insights, Julie |
I would take the Blue Line train from O'Hare to Chicago Ave stop
Take #66 bus east to State Street Walk ~1.5 blocks south on State Street to the hotel The walk from the Blue Line train/#66 bus connection point would be a long walk. ~1.5 miles, mostly through industrial/commercial areas. Nothing exciting until you get closer to State Street so I would not do it. |
I agree that the walk along Chicago Avenue would be pretty dull. A second option would be to take the Blue Line to Jackson and transfer to the Red Line toward Howard. There's a direct connection with elevators between the two lines.
Exit the Red Line at Chicago and walk south (past the cathedral) to the hotel. It would take a bit longer, but the transfer between trains may be a bit easier to negotiate and it's free. |
Thanks for the travel tip... I'll decide as I get closer to my arrival in Chicago and decide which routing to take.

If you want to give your red-eye brain a break you could always take the Blue Line to the Chicago Ave stop as AA suggests, and then take a taxi the rest of the way. At that time of morning the morning rush hour traffic shouldn't be too bad and I'd guess a taxi would be under $10.
