EEE PC 900

I have been researching this and wondered if anyone out there has experience. The 900 is just released in the US. Its predecessors are smaller, and cheaper. I cannot find any local retailer that has one (or even the smaller ones)in stock. Costco & BestBuy have them on line. As does Amazon and the usual internet stores such as NewEgg, J&R, BH... While traveling, I could use it as a Portable Storage Device for my pictures, also view them, and get email & surf the 'net.
I have browsed eee pc sites but more input would be appreciated. appreciated. Thanks

Jane, you might want to be a little bit clearer. I for one have no idea what an eee pc 900 is.

Google it. I just wondered if anyone had any experience with it. It is a mini computer that we would want to save our daily digital photos on, get email, surf the web with wifi.

I've been considering it too. Might be too new for anyone here to have exp with it yet. Have you looked at the reviews & comments at Notebookreview.com? People there seem to like everything but the price. Consensus seems to be that it costs too much for what you get. I'm going to wait a bit to see if the price drops as more companies come out with similar products. I have heard that it's better than a comparable ultramobile PC from HP.

yes, now Dell & Acer seem to be in the business. I don't need it until August.

I have a 701 and love it! I debated waiting for the 900 and the bigger screen, but for only $400 and with WinXP, I couldn't resist. I got to try out the keyboard at a Best Buy and decided I could type on it. It is a small board and the right side shift key is hard to get to, but for the size, it is amazing. I bought mine while visiting Colorado and gave it a good try out at a couple Starbucks and came in handy at DIA when I wanted to find a Rocky Mtn Chocolate Factory in the airport.

I am looking forward to using it in two weeks when we take a two week car trip. I have DSL from AT&T and so I can get on the AT&T wireless networks at Starbucks and other places.

You can also check out the HP 2133 Mini-Note, it has a larger keyboard and is from Hewlett-Packard.
