Ed Debevics in Chicago

Is this place as cool as people who rave about it? How far out of the way of Downtown/magnificent mile is it located....<BR>When is the best time to go for the least amount of crowds?

I was there several years ago. I would describe it as an obnoxiously cute themed restaurant where the food is just so-so and the crowds are crazy. We went early in the day [on a sat. afternoon] and still had to wait. It was significantly more crowded when we left.

It is a lot of fun as long as you participate. You need to go for a very early lunch around 11am and it will not be too bad.

It's a fun place, especially if you are going with kids. The food is ok, its the atmosphere thats the kick. Its about 5-6 blocks from Michigan Avenue-fairly easy walking distance. Make sure you order the world's smallest sundae for dessert.

I took my kids there last year. We got there for an early lunch - i.e. just after 11am and we didn't have to wait but it was already filling up. Kids love the place. It's a very boisterous atmosphere. I would agree with the obnoxiously fun description.

We went as a group of adults. Bad move!
