Eatting in Big Sky or Bozeman
 

This summer we'll be spending more time at our cabin on Hebgen Lake (by W. Yellowstone, Mt) That is after this mass amount of snow melts.

I'd like to take some day trips. Any recommendations for good lunch places from Gallatin Canyon to and including Bozeman.

There are some posts on Chowhound about Bozeman. I suspect you'll find more information there.... Many post are older, but there are a couple that are relatively current.

What kind of places are you looking for? Casual? Very nice? BBQ? Burger joint? A place that serves wine & beer or cocktails, too?

I live in Bozeman; there are lots of choices...

Good wine list and good food. We've been to Plonk and liked it.

Boodles, on Main St. near Plonk, has a good wine list and good food. Full bar. Very nice food.

Cafe Internationale on 7th near Mendenhall is an alternative. Doesn't look like much on the outside but is classy on the inside and has outdoor seating in good weather.

Outside of Bozeman you can try the Mint Cafe on Main St. in Belgrade or the Rib and Chop House in Livingston. Both require reservations for dinner for sure. Come to think of it Boodles and Cafe Int'l also take reservations. You can try walk-in for lunch but if you call ahead you can possibly save yourself some time and grief.

We like Boodles but if we're looking for some exceptional meat or cedar plank salmon and killer cocktails we'll zip over the pass to Livingston for the Rib & Chop House.

Sometime this summer Ted Turner is opening up his first Ted's Montana Grill that's actually in Montana. It'll be in the Baxter Hotel on Main at Willson. These grills, though a chain, are well known for their bison meat (bison rib eye at Rib & Chop House is slammin'.) Turner raises most of his own bison. You'll drive by his Flyin D ranch coming out of Gallatin Canyon into Bozeman.
